WOODS is an artist book conceived and drawn by Alois Mosbacher between January and March 2021. The publication reflects on Mosbacher’s sustained engagement with the forest as both a real and symbolic space.

The woods appear here as sites of retreat, projection, and utopian speculation. References range from Henry David Thoreau’s philosophical withdrawal into nature to the extreme isolation of figures such as Ted Kaczynski and Christopher T. Knight. Self-constructed cabins, improvised shelters, and hidden refuges become recurring motifs.
