Altered After brings together artworks shaped by questions of time, care, and transformation in response to HIV/AIDS.

Incorporating archives, archaeology, salvaged objects, material migrations, inherited knowledge, and bequests, the exhibition considers how artistic practices can work with what remains. In these works, the care of material traces becomes both an act of stewardship and a way of generating new meanings from what has been lost or left behind.

The catalogue includes essays by the exhibition’s curator Conrad Ventur, archivist Tara Hart, performance program curator Camilo Godoy, and moving image curators Carmel Curtis and Leeroy Kun Young Kang, along with entries on each participating artist.
