Karl Holmqvist’s practice is radically typographic: letters, numerals and special characters are his only medium.

In SKYLINE IS THE BY‑LINEZZ these signs condense into sprawling cityscapes—staggered “H” blocks resemble high‑rise façades, rhythms of “777” glow like neon, and symbol clusters read like digital emojis. Text becomes the raw material of concrete poetry that fuses architecture with language.

Housed in a custom slipcase, the accordion‑fold book stretches out like an urban panorama. Printed in multicolour offset and released in a limited edition, it accompanied Erik Steinbrecher’s exhibition “HALO ERIK” at Kunsthaus Baselland (2014), where Holmqvist contributed a typographic intervention.
