Blendung Eblouissement a catalogue byJohannes Steidl
This is the catalogue that accompanies the exhibition that took place at ARTBORETUM gallery in ARGENTON SUR CREUSE, FRANCE publisher: ARTBORETUM éditeur

Johannes Steidl paints om polyethylene and on the sort of aluminized cardboard that serves as packaging in which food and bottles are shipped. He recycles the beginnings and ends of large roles of cardboard that have been enhanced by cheap white metal, a material that cannot otherwise be used for the grooved surfaces or standardized cut- and- fold multipack boxes. As a support for painting, the material accommodates luminosity. However, it is not simple to paint on due to its fragility. This weakness, however, becomes an asset when covered with the ink that barely clings to its surface. Red begins to run, to rub off or puddle, to escape its boundaries. The act of painting contains and preserves the imperfections of the materials. Rose begins to crackle and seep. Black ink is laid on with tiny staccato strokes. Three bristling spikes become iridescent as their fissures are swallowed up. Three bristling bodies in the sky. An orchestrated dance made and unmade. a flight suspended.
