Bookbook 2007-2011

Bookbook is a publication from the Städelschule Frankfurt, developed within Simon Starling’s class. It brings together contributions from

students and guest artists over a five-year period, exploring the book as both artistic medium and conceptual space. Contributors include Simon Starling, Benjamin Lobko, Dan Starling, Michael Stevenson, Patrick Keaveney, as well as Maria Ptqk, Emanuele Guidi, Juan Freire, Santiago Eraso and several anonymous participants. Through texts, images, and experimental formats, the publication reflects on authorship, reproduction, and the legacy of Surrealism in contemporary art. Bookbook functions both as a document and as an artistic process—a collective reflection on publishing practices at one of Europe’s leading art academies.
