Berlin-based artist and self-publisher Michalis Pichler works conceptually, often in series and with found material.

He uses a wide variety of media in his work, including text, publications, photography and collages, as well as sculpture and interventions in public space. Pichler describes his works as “appropriations”. In doing so, he refers to Appropriation Art, which emerged in New York in the 1980s. Its protagonists established the deliberate copying of artworks as an art form in its own right, thereby challenging the conventional notion of artistic originality.
The publication features 24 full-page reproductions of magazine advertisement pages, whose mundane familiarity is disrupted by cut-outs and collages.
