The overall affect is a beautiful stack of reading.

Mit «Notatki z Warszawy» zeichnet der Fotograf ein Porträt der sich rasant verändernden 2-Millionen-Metropole an der Weichsel – ein sehr persönlich gefärbtes Porträt, mit seiner Person als «romantischem Betrachter» der Stadtlandschaft als Bildkonstante.

GLAMOUR ist der zweite Band von whyart, einem dreiteiligen Kunstbuchprojekt von Aude Lehmann und Tan Wälchli (Zürich). Das Projekt verfolgt das Ziel, drei Begriffe, die im gegenwärtigen Kunstdiskurs häufig, jedoch nicht trennscharf verwendet werden, theoretisch präzise zu bestimmen: Aura, Glamour und Mode. Der erste Band, AURA, ist im Frühjahr 2004 bei Revolver erschienen.

Strukturalisten, und Jeannette Fabis könnte man eine Strukturalistin nennen, untersuchen nicht so sehr die Phänomene selbst, sondern vielmehr ihre Beziehungen zu anderen vergleichbaren Phänomenen. Das Buch zeigt auf 112 Seiten mit zahlreichen Abbildungen aktuelle Installationen und Papierarbeiten von Braun, die die Balance zwischen Kunst und Natur, zwischen dem Natürlichen und dem Artifiziellen halten. Die Transformation von Stoff und Inhalt ist das zugrundeliegende Prinzip von Björn Brauns Arbeiten.

Das Künstlerduo Kunst oder Unfall aka Augusta & Kalle Laar präsentierte die neue Ausgabe ihres Fanzines im Salon für Kunstbuch: The offical Kunst oder Unfall Fanzine |Nr. 55, Spring/Summer 2008d.h. jedes Exemplar ein Einzelstück samt integrierter Flexi-Single.

Ausgangspunkt ist Alexandre Dumas‘ aberwitziger Roman »Kapitän Pamphile«. Obwohl bereits im Jahr 1839 erstmals veröffentlicht, entpuppt sich das Frühwerk von Dumas gerade heute wieder als treffsicherer Kommentar zum aktuellen Zeitgeschehen. In ihm beschreibt Dumas belustigt in sarkastischem Unterton die wilden rücksichtslosen Abenteuer des Piratenkapitäns Pamphile.

At the core of this publication is a 16mm film sequence by Mathias Poledna, portraying a fictional band during rehearsal. Rather than documenting reality, the film meticulously stages a moment that exemplifies the ephemeral aesthetics of late 20th-century popular culture.

In this thesis I focus on the question - how to maintain or regain a sustainable and autonomous position as an artist? The research stems from the realm of media art, dealing with interactivity, and is the written result of a research that I have been doing the last two years. Ecos »Der Name der Rose« (Labyrinth und Kartografie) in Bezug zur Geschichte der Wissenskultur und zu seiner Kindheitssehnsucht nach einem alles umfassenden Buch und projiziert diese drei Ebenen, die philosophisch-literarische, die historische und die persönliche, auf das amorphe urbane Chaos seines Geburts- und Wohnortes Los Angeles mit seinen zahlreichen Ethnien, Sprachen, Rassen- und Klassenkonflikten. Im ›System‹ Bibliothek spricht sich der Wunsch der Menschheit nach Wahrheit, Übersicht und Selbstvergewisserung aus, L.A. dagegen gilt als postmoderne Stadt par excellence und repräsentiert damit auch das viel zitierte Ende der ›großen Erzählungen‹. Unterschiedliche Weltentwürfe und Modelle der Wirklichkeit, unterschiedliche Zeiten und Kulturen verweben sich in einem facettenreichen Netz von Referenzen.

I found a cafe named Downey’s in Amersfoort which is run by a family and their son Arjan with Down syndrome. There are several Down syndrome people working in the cafe as well as volunteers who support them. However the Down syndrome people have to pay for their labour to the cafe, which in return supplies them with a form of traineeship.

Each one of us has Giga-grams of things, souvenirs and gifts at home. Gigabytes of photos and videos. Non-sensical things, but apparently they're kept as a memory of something. But these things only tend to catch dust, and the stronger individuals among us tend to get rid of them at the earliest opportunity. Most of the remembrance material usually only evokes a strange sense of inappropriateness, least of all a recollection of what-the-hell-the-name-of-that-place-was.

The perception of the human body has changed somewhat. In the past, skinny and wiry people were usually poor souls who would toil on their masters' soil from dawn till dusk, while the rich, fat and immobile feudal lords would clog their arteries with sugar and fats. Today the tables have turned, and it is lean curves that indicate sufficient funds for healthy food and enough time for leisure centres, while the poor are usually on the verge of dying as victims of television paralysis and junk food.

I'm on the trail of several people. I observe their digital lives in social networks; I know that they're watching mine, and, to be honest, it suits me fine.
I'm not good at asking questions, so I prefer to check the profiles of my ex-girlfriends once in a while to see if they're doing OK and to believe that they actually are. Even the petty lying suits me - the race for success comforts me and I feel better. After all, everything's an illusion, so why should people suffer in it?

The snapshots are quick poetic communiqués, a visual report on Felix's outlook at particular moments in time, small gestures of hope, pleasure, and desire.

American artist Kay Rosen has been exploring the possibilities of words as images for over 25 years. She delights in the small shift; the subtle change that subverts meaning and reveals the unexpected.
