The insignia of media-technical apparatuses proliferate on the large-format Sources; in these macroscopic shots of image carriers, or rather information carriers, it seems at first glance that the sign-like message has been separated from that of the media, the carrier. It is as though we were seeing the purity of the physical material – the canvas – before us, overlaid with the enlarged epidermis of the physical-chemical or electronic carrier material. The enlargements of infographic carriers, of monitors, photocopies, printing, etc. make us aware of the ”place” that bears (away) the traces of our presence. Thus the carriers, to which we entrust the legacy of our presence, already bear a ”mark”, seem to be ”punctured”, injured, and do not correspond at all to the immaculacy of a surface, to which we sacrifice the dimensions of space.

Durch die gleichermaßen „unkünstlerische“ Bildauswahl verwischen die Grenzen zwischen bewusst und zufällig Registriertem und Aufgenommenen, das sich in der vorliegenden Publikation zu einer Narration verdichtet.

Johannes Lotz lässt in seinen Gemälden auf Leinwand und Holztüren Bildwelten entstehen, die bevölkert sind von bizarren Figuren auf verschlungenen Wegen zu seltsamen Orten.

Die „Taubenbriefe“, in der Edition Krill erschienen, sind ein außergewöhnlich schön gestaltetes Buch. Kein Kindle kann dessen optische und haptische Qualitäten nur irgendwie wiedergeben: Die 30 Kartonblätter mit Zeichnungen und Texten sind am Rand sorgfältig geklebt, die einzelnen Seiten lassen sich jedoch auch problemlos rausreißen, ohne das Buch zu zerstören, und als Postkarten verschicken.

Was Künstlerinnenmythen allerdings mit dem gewählten Titel zu tun haben, können auch die Herausgeberinnen in ihrer Einleitung nicht überzeugend darlegen. Dass Künstlerinnen und Künstler über die Aneignung von Mythen eine Affinität zu bekannteren Künstlerinnen und Künstlern herstellen oder postulieren, wird mit dem von Goethe auf menschliche Verhältnisse übertragenen, aus der Chemie stammenden Begriff der "Wahlverwandtschaften" weniger geklärt denn erneut mythisiert.
