STREIK ist Sergej M. Eisensteins erster langer Film. In ihm setzte er sein 1923 veröffentlichtes Konzept der Attraktionsmontage um, in dem er formulierte, dass überkommene Kunstvorstellungen durch aggressive, auf Schockeffekte zielende Sinnesreizungen überwunden werden sollen. STREIK ist gespickt mit kurzen, oft stakkatoartig aufeinanderfolgenden Szenen, und einer „tendenziösen Zusammenstellung von Ereignissen“. (Deutsch/Englisch)

Regarding photographic archives, artist Allan Sekula wrote that archives treat images as atomised entities, depriving them of any context. The Arsenal, by contrast, considers itself a place of production – a place, in which working with film acts on our perception of the present, understands itself as political, asks questions, and allows for incompleteness. Im Mittelpunkt dieser Publikation stehen der englische Maler, Filmemacher und Schriftsteller Derek Jarman (1942 - 1994) und sein wenig bekannter Bereich der Home Movies, Super-8-Filme sowie sein daraus entwickeltes Kino der kleinen Gesten.
