Die Karikatur ist eine der zentralen Aufgabenfelder des Mediums Zeichnung. Es ist daher notwendig, in einer Serie über dieses Medium einen Vertreter zu präsentieren, der sich dieser Form bedient. Tex Rubinowitz siedelt seine aus den Printmedien bekannten Zeichnungen zwischen bildender Kunst, Literatur und Subkultur an. Der zugrunde liegende anarchische Witz ist alles andere als eine Forderung, Kunst müsse wieder lustig sein und habe in erster Linie Unterhaltungscharakter zu haben oder eine Fetischierung des Wohllebens zu sein. Es ist die Subversivität, die die Künstler von Hogarth und Daumier bis zu Mike Kelly, Jim Shaw oder Günter Brus im Witz erkannten.

So ein Pferd ist wie ein Mensch, aber schöner. Wenn ein Pferd vor der Tür steht, fragt man nicht lange, wo es herkommt und was es wohl will.

Die Reihe LUBOK präsentiert in jedem Band Arbeiten von ca. zehn Künstlerinnen und Künstlern aus Malerei und Grafik, die sich mit dem Thema Linolschnitt auseinandersetzen. Obwohl Format und Technik sowie das harte Schwarzweiß des Linolschnitts für alle Künstler vorgegeben sind - das Thema steht frei - überrascht die Vielfalt der Handschriften und Herangehensweisen in jedem Band aufs Neue.
