Hans Schabus' works are immediately related to a spatial thinking and experience; his sculptures and interventions often refer directly to the artist's mental and physical surroundings, especially to his atelier and the material to be processed there. The place where art is created is investigated in terms of its analogy potential with respect to life. The works can be read as a meditation on the creative act, its aspirations, but also on the difference from everyday activity. The film works that deal with traveling, speed and non-goal-oriented movement refer to the significance of an interdisciplinary reflection for art.

Die Secession
Die Vereinigung bildender KünstlerInnen Wiener Secession wurde 1897 gegründet. 1898 fand ihre erste Ausstellung statt und im selben Jahr wurde auch das Secessionsgebäude fertiggestellt.

Francis Upritchard creates sculptural installations in which human figures, painted in bright colours, inhabit a world replete with found objects and everyday items, modified to meet their needs. The inhabitants and their objects are shown on specially produced or found pieces of furniture.

Three Views on Salto del Agua is a book of three insightful essays on the architecturally based film, Salto del Agua, a collaborative project by conceptual artist Anton Vidokle and sound engineer Cristian Manzutto. The 10-minute Super 8 film focuses its lens on the facade of an unremarkable building in Mexico City; a public transportation station that would otherwise go unnoticed in the urban sprawl.

Die Monografie widmet sich zum ersten Mal umfassend dem Gesamtwerk des Künstlers und berücksichtigt dabei auch jüngere Arbeiten wie seine Serie Historic Photographs, die in einem direkten Bezug zur Biografie des Holocaust-Überlebenden Gustav Metzger stehen. Eine detaillierte Chronologie verortet die Aktivitäten des Künstlers im historischen und politischen Kontext ihrer Entstehung. Dadurch wird Metzger erstmals nicht nur als Künstler, sondern auch als Aktivist gewürdigt.
