Die Renitenz der in dieser Ausgabe gestellten Frage, was die Kunst vom will, ist Programm. Denn momentan sieht es so aus, als laufe alles im tionalen Kunstbetrieb der Biennalen und in den institutionellen Allianzen großen Museen auf die Optimierung sensueller und konsensueller Mehrwerterzeugung hinaus.

Der Begriff der „Aneignung" ist so alltäglich und vielschichtig wie er kunsthistorisch gesehen eine spezifische künstlerische Formation — die „Appropriation Art" — markiert. Warum sollte es sinnvoll sein, sich heute wieder mit dem vieldiskutierten Komplex der „Appropriation Art" zu befassen?

Spector cut+paste: Die Zeitschrift als permanenter Workshop—hier haben wir einige der Themen gefunden, die uns bis heute umtreiben; hier haben wir gelernt, uns zwischen künstlerischen und publizistischen Praktiken zu bewegen; hier haben wir begonnen, Text, Bild und Typografie zu kombineren, um so eigene Formate zu erfinden und die inhaltlichen Aspekte von Gestaltung zu untersuchen.
