Die Hundert erreicht man nicht so schnell, vor allem nicht als vierteljährlich erscheinendes Fachperiodikum, das, im Eigenverlag herausgegeben, nie als kommerziell erfolgreiches Massenblatt, sondern als hochwertiges Printprodukt für Fotografie- und Medientheorieinteressierte konzipiert war.

Nach dem Erscheinen des 100. Heftes vergangenen November startet EIKON das Jahr 2018 also wieder mit einer Nummer eins oder, genauer, mit der ersten von weiteren einhundert Ausgaben. Mit dem Überschreiten dieser Marke richtet sich der Blick aber nicht nur auf das bisher Erreichte, sondern vor allem auch auf die unmittelbare Gegenwart und Zukunft der Zeitschrift, und dies besonders vor dem Hintergrund heutiger Ansprüche, die sich durch die Verschränkung der analogen mit der digitalen Welt selbstverständlich wandeln.

As an internet user you’ve often seen it as a nervously blinking something that accompanies you through every virtual day: unasked, it moves on the edge of windows called up on your browser and its rapidly alternating images remind you to change your electricity provider, prevent hair loss or book your next summer holiday in Turkey.
