“At Home He Feels Like a Tourist” displays in book form Mirko Smerdel’s research interests and strategies of artistic production: the observation and categorisation of pre-existing images or objects, the use of narrative as a research tool, the dialogue between micro and macro, private and public.

"Kunst und" fächert aktuelle Schwerpunkte der Vermittlungsarbeit am mumok - Museum moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien auf. Die Themen lauten: "Kunst und intergenerative Kommunikation", "Kunst und Körper", "Kunst und Mathematik", "Kunst und Musik", "Kunst und Sprache" und "Kunst und ZWISCHEN-Raum".

"Auf Nimmerwiedersehen - Die Fragilität der Existenz" - Unter diesem Titel fasst die Künstlerin Alice Musiol Zeichnungen, Aquarelle, Druckgrafiken, Wandarbeiten, Objekte, Skulpturen, Installationen und Projektionen zusammen, die vom 23. Juni bis 31. Oktober 2017 in der VGH galerie Hannover ausgestellt wurden.

Jakob Tuggener, 1904 in Zürich geboren, war gleichzeitig Fotograf, Filmemacher und Maler. Doch vor allem verstand er sich als Künstler. Beeinflusst vom deutschen expressionistischen Film der zwanziger Jahre, entwickelte er einen ausdrucksstarken, poetischen Stil, der nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg für viele junge Fotografen zum Vorbild wurde.

Die Ausstellung The Drawingroom präsentiert fünfzehn internationale Künstlerinnen und Künstler, deren Werk in erster Linie um das Medium der Zeichnung kreist. Die aus unterschiedlichen Generationen stammenden Künstlerinnen und Künstler zeigen eindrücklich, welche inhaltlichen und formalen Möglichkeiten die zeitgenössische Zeichnung bietet. Die Zeichnung hat dabei für alle nicht nur Skizzencharakter, ist nicht allein Ideennotation, sondern wird als höchst eigenständiges Medium eingesetzt, mit dem sowohl gedankliche Vorstellungsräume ausgelotet, als auch räumliche Zusammenhänge erforscht werden.

Um die Zeichnungen von Michaela Polacek in ihrer ganzen Komplexität zu erfassen, kommt man um die Betrachtung der Originale nicht herum. Allzu fein ist ihre Linienführung mit Tuschefüller und Bleistift - und viel zu groß sind ihre Formate, um auf einer Wiedegabenebene wie dieser bestehen zu können. Es kann also nur Ziel sein, hier eine Idee ihrer Arbeit zu vermitteln.
