This small publication is an edited reprint of the essay ‘The Book in Intermediary Form’ written by Kasper Andreasen. It was originally published in 2011 by Wintertuin, Nijmegen as part of a compilation about the future of the book. "Gewöhnlich arbeite ich hauptsächlich nachts. Nachts fällt das Licht nur auf die Leinwand. Alle anderen Objekte liegen im Schatten, und so kann ich nicht leicht abgelenkt werden. Außerdem fühle ich mich manchmal nachts wirklich wie ein Künstler, es ist ruhig, ich höre nur den Pinsel. Manchmal bekomme ich nachts das Gefühl, ein wirklich großer Maler zu sein, während im grellen Tageslicht alles sehr viel normaler ist. Nachts wachsen Phantasie und Gefühl enorm an, tags sind sie konzentrierter, nüchterner; der Tag ist realistischer. Mein Rezept für ein gutes Bild ist nachts anfangen und bei Tag es zu vollenden."

With the Édition Séparée, a series has been created that aims to give artists the opportunity to produce authentic contributions to the tradition of the artist’s book.

In the new series of JPEG the artist experiments with the compression procedure of the same name for digital pictures, which is able to reduce their file extent. The irreparable information loss here taking place falls in usual practice because of the small size of the pictures adjusted usually for the screen hardly important. Thomas Ruff is however interested in this effect.

Dieser 'Kunstkalender' ist ein Abreiß-Kalender ohne Bilder. Er enthält 31 Werkbeschreibungen in Form von Beschriftungsschildern, wie sie in Ausstellungen neben den Kunstwerken üblich sind. Jedes Kalenderblatt ist ein eigenständiges Werk, dessen Erscheinungsbild vom Leser automatisch als Vorstellung erzeugt wird.

Bittermann & Duka, so firmieren sie als Künstlerpaar, gehen in ihren Arbeiten stets davon aus, dass zum einen Landschaft und Natur als Bild wahrgenommen werden, dass vor allem aber unsere Vorstellungen von Landschaft und Natur durch Bilder bestimmt sind. Sie berufen sich dabei auf die Geschichte der Landschafts- und Gartenarchitektur, die über 300 Jahre zurückreicht und immer das Gestalten von Natur im Hinblick auf ein ästhetisches Motiv für ein Bild und nach einem Bild vor Augen hatte. Denn, am Anfang des ästhetischen Naturbewusstseins war das Bild.
