Modern art, and what came after it, is one of the most specialized fields that Western civilization has produced. Modern and contemporary artist have at the same time never behaved with much respect towards that civilization which created them.

At the core of this publication is a 16mm film sequence by Mathias Poledna, portraying a fictional band during rehearsal. Rather than documenting reality, the film meticulously stages a moment that exemplifies the ephemeral aesthetics of late 20th-century popular culture.

Die Publikation „JVA Protokoll“ wurde von der Stiftung Buchkunst als „Schönstes deutsches Buch 2001 ausgezeichnet.

Das heft deutschland [1 – n] ist als offene Serie von Künstlerbüchern angelegt. Im Zentrum der Serie steht der Begriff „deutschland“ oder „Deutschland“. Jede Ausgabe besitzt ihr eigenes Konzept. Auch im Design und der Bemaßung unterscheiden sich die Ausgaben teilweise. Nur der Titel ist immer das heft deutschland [1- n]. In jeder Ausgabe biete ich einen jeweils spezifischen Blick auf etwas das ich mit „deutschland“ betitele. Ich erwarte eine Interferenz zwischen dem Titel und dem Inhalt der jeweiligen Ausgabe.

Bis heute erinneren Straßennamen wie Infanteriestraße und Schwere-Reiter-Straße an dessen einstige militärische Bedeutung.

Haut ist ein lebenswichtiges Körperorgan und ein eminent bedeutsames Symbol in der menschlichen Kulturgeschichte. Die Membran zwischen Innen und Außen ist Informationsspeicher und Kommunikationsmedium.

Jahrelang schnitt Suzy Kirsch in Heften der deutschen Vogue und fertigte zahlreiche Collagen an – mit dem immergleichen Motiv.
