Der Katalog „Asia City Strangers“, welcher anlässlich der gleichnamigen Ausstellung in der Galerie Kunsthof erschien (15.09.06 - 04.11.06), thematisiert anhand von fünf aktuellen fotografischen Positionen den Raum asiatischer Metropolen. Die weit verbreitete Vorstellung von Asien als widersprüchlich kulturellem Raum, einerseits der Tradition verpflichtet, andererseits ein Anführer technologischen Fortschritts, wird einer individuellen künstlerischen Erfahrung ausgesetzt. Für die europäische Perspektive oszillieren diese Orte „zwischen der Fremdheit einer exotisch wirkenden Kultur und der Vertrautheit einer hoch entwickelten Industriegesellschaft“ (Bettina Lockemann, „Das Fremde Sehen“). Die fünf KünstlerInnen haben zwischen 1996 und 2006 an der Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig/ Academy of Visual Arts bei Joachim Brohm ihr Studium abgeschlossen und arbeiten freischaffend. Die gezeigten Arbeiten sind unabhängig voneinander in den letzten beiden Jahren entstanden.

The exhibition project J-Pop/G-Pop organized by Sasaoka Takashi (CAS/Osaka) and Reinhild Kuhn (Kuenstlerhaus Dortmund) investigated questions on everyday's culture in Japan and Germany.
