Dialect by Felipe Romero Beltra?n is a photographic series that follows a group of immigrants who have recently crossed the strait (the maritime border between Morocco and Spain) to avoid border controls.

The richly illustrated book Without and within: essays on territory and the interior contains a series of essays that trace a thread of ideas, images and projections that connect the American territory as conceived by Thomas Jefferson to the contemporary continuous interior environment ubiquitous in public experience. It is a story of ideas contained therein, their implementation and their consequences.

Visual artist Diana Scherer (1971, DE) is one of the pioneers in bio tech art. Scherer lives and works in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where she studied fine art at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Her work comprises botany, installations, textile and biotechnology.

Why urban design is larger than architecture: the foundational qualities of urban design, examples and practitioners
Urban design in practice is incremental, but architects imagine it as scaled-up architecture—large, ready-to-build pop-up cities. This paradox of urban design is rarely addressed; indeed, urban design as a discipline lacks a theoretical foundation.

Nations and states establish a strong collective image by disseminating symbols of their rulers and erecting monuments and temples. In public spaces, statues in particular are seen to represent systems of political rule. They mark squares, urban nexuses, and mountain ranges--visible from afar. Once erected, they serve as a timeless demonstration of authority, emphasising irrefutable legitimacy.But how is power depicted today? Are statues still a democratically tenable form?

A group of Jan van Eyck researchers investigated the public spheres of Brazzaville and Kinshasa, two neighbouring capitals separated by the Congo river. The group subscribed to ‘visualizing the visible’ as a research approach and regarded Brazzaville and Kinshasa as one city: Brakin.
