LIGNA hat sich 1997 im Freien Sender Kombinat Hamburg zusammengefunden und lädt seitdem in der Rundfunksendung Lignas Music Box HörerInnen ein, mittels Telefon ihre Musik von zu Hause über den Äther auszustrahlen. International bekannt wurden die Radiokünstler Ole Frahm, Michael Hüners und Torsten Michaelsen durch das Radioballett – eine Art des öffentlichen Radiohörens, bei dem die TeilnehmerInnen bestimmte aus dem öffentlichen Raum ausgeschlossene oder verbotene Gesten ausführen. Mit zahlreichen performativen Interventionen hat LIGNA in den vergangenen Jahren im Radio, im Stadtraum und im Theater ihre politische Ästhetik weiterentwickelt. Die Publikation LIGNA An Alle! Radio, Theater, Stadt versammelt erstmals eine Auswahl der Produktionstexte und theoretischen Überlegungen, die LIGNA als Teil ihrer Praxis begreift.

"Dipl. 04" ist die Diplompublikation der Abschlussklasse am Studiengang Bildende Kunst der Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst Zürich im Sommer 2004. Die Publikation versammelte Beiträge, Inserts und Werkdokumentationen, aller 17 Diplomandinnen und Diplomanden.

Seit dem Bau des ersten Computers 1948 werden Texte nicht mehr nur geschrieben und gelesen, sondern auch ausgeführt. Seitdem arbeiten Autoren an Schriftstücken, die exekutiert selbst Inhalte produzieren. Poesiemaschinen - Maschinenpoesie verfolgt die Frühgeschichte dieser Textgeneratoren inklusive ihrer literarischen Vorläufer detailliert und stellt die Paradigmen, Umgebungsbedingungen und Phantasmen heraus, die sie motivieren und inspirieren.

Computerspiele bestimmen die Lage auf Millionen privater Bildschirme. Seit einem Vierteljahrhundert sind sie keine Angelegenheit von Labors, Militärberatern oder Subkulturen mehr, sondern erzeugen und erhalten populäre Medienverbünde, deren Umsätze diejenigen Hollywoods in den Schatten stellen. Pädagogen zeigen sich allerorts besorgt, die Kulturwissenschaften allmählich interessiert, und es gibt die ersten Computerspiel-Museen.

In his book, Julian Stallabrass attempts to map the socio-political context that has given rise to artistic projects designed for the Internet and categorized today as Net.art. The practices commented on by the author began appearing as the Web was developing the hybrid form we know today. Stallabrass believes that the dissipation of the Internet’s utopian potential and its evolution toward a sphere that is increasingly dominated by commercial trade invalidate the very idea of an independent history of Net.art and its definition as a medium. Hence, Stallabrass gives equal attention to the cultural issues raised by the Internet in an advanced stage of capitalism and to artistic practices.
