Utopia Travel is a collaborative project by Austrian artists David Rych and
Emanuel Danesch. Its basis is the transport of a video collection from Cairo
to Vienna. The video archive was shown in a taxi as a mobile video installation
on a three-and-a-half-month tour through Cairo, Beirut, Istanbul,Sofia, Belgrade, Sarajevo, Zagreb, Ljubljana, Graz and Vienna.

French designer Pierre Charpin (b. 1962, lives in Paris) holds a singular position within his field. He became a designer after finishing his Visual Arts studies and started to gain recognition in the mid-1990s. Articulated with a strong and liberated use of colors and materials, his creations—objects, furniture and exhibition designs—deal with the notions of landscape and autonomy, humor and surprise, poetic presence and minimalism.

Theater of Exhibitions analyzes “art after the end of art,” questioning whether inherited frameworks of making, theorizing, and exhibiting art still apply to contemporary practice. The book also considers the current commodification of the art industry and the distribution of images in the digital age.

Dem Sachverhalt, dass und wie ein systemischer Zusammenhang die Elemente, aus denen er besteht, selbst als Elemente qualifiziert, hat die Künstlerin Karin Felbermayr mit ihrer Präsentation „oberflächenaktive Elemente“, im Raum 58 in München, überzeugend demonstriert. Mit demselben Ansatz hat sie jetzt ein Künstlerbuch gestaltet. Wie der Titel verrät, hat sie sich dazu von Joan Rivieres berühmten Aufsatz „Womanliness as a Masquerade“ aus dem Jahre 1929 anregen lassen. Mit der Erfordernis einer heutigen „postmedialen Situation“ (Rosalind Krauss), orientiert sich die Künstlerin an einen erweiterten Textbegriff. Dieser verbindet medial verschiedene semantische Formen, die hier thematisch um die Maske zwischen Verbergen und performativen Ausfüllen kreisen. Wie die Künstlerin Stereotypen inszeniert und Signifikantenketten verflüssigt, etwa von der Haube mit Augenschlitz jugendlicher Protestbewegungen zu Spider-Man, vom Modelposing zum Homevideo-Still oder wie sie das Dispositiv Kunstausstellung zum „Gender Trouble“ (Judith Butler) macht – das gibt nicht zuletzt auch einen Einblick in die lustvolle Praxis von künstlerischen Logiken. (F.E.
