In Autumn and Winter 2013/2014, Christa Blümlinger and Harun Farocki worked on the dialogical “ABCs of the Essay Film,” which is published here for the first time in its original German version. In 26 short paragraphs, reacting to key terms suggested by Christa Blümlinger (from “A for Adorno” to “Z for Zidane”), Farocki explores his proximity, but also his distance to filmmakers like Chris Marker, Jean-Luc Godard, Artavazd Peleshian, or Alexander Kluge and speaks about specific operations in his films, TV programs, and installations.

Every kind of change belongs to a form of community art', states the Italian philospher Antonio Negri. This is the inverse of the premise that community art can be integral component of desired social changes. Negri confronts community art, its supporters and critics with a challenging responsibility, and extends this to include everyone who wants to bring about change in social, political, economic, technological or ecological arenas. In this work, Willem Popelier investigates mankind's image of himself, the question of what makes someone unique, how we see ourselves and how we want to be seen by others. He researches identity and how we perceive that identity, making use of photography in order to record the facts.
