Since 1998, the artist group G.R.A.M. has been undertaking, among other projects such as Paparazzi, new stagings of existing visual worlds.

In doing so, G.R.A.M. draws attention to the function of images, to the politics of the visible. The persistent repetition of images burned into our perception by the mass media addresses the common mechanisms of reality production. Under the title ‘The Coup of the Impeccable Men,’ G.R.A.M. recreates situations in new reenactments that at first glance appear to be very different: politicians shortly before or after the official photo shoot, dancing soldiers, bodyguards standing picturesquely in the rain, parliamentarians asleep, the first photo of two popes, footballers forming their bodies into pyramids of jubilation, and much more. What unites the images is their performative character. G.R.A.M. (Günther Holler-Schuster, born 1963, Martin Behr, born 1964) live and work in Graz, Austria.
