Gabriel Orozco

This book was published on the occasion of the exhibition 'Gabriel Orozco' in Broel -en Broeitoren, organized by The Kanaal Art Foundation, from April to June 1993.

The work of Gabriel Orozco indicates an open-ended attitude to art, one in which identity is produced not by internalizing marginality nor by taking in modernist principles uncritically. Through the involvement in his culture, history and immediate environment, the artist develops a common language prohibiting in a subtle but decisive way any attempts at 'Othering'.
