Since 2001, we have worked closely with the artist collective Gelitin as publishers, producing numerous publications.
This volume marks the first comprehensive monograph on the group, documenting all of their projects to date. From Abgasblase to Zapf de Pipi, the book offers an overview of Gelitin’s work so far, while also pointing toward future projects.
An abundance of photographs, sketches, models, and ideas—alongside artist statements and essays—invites an immersive dive into the Gelitin universe. The four Austrian artists create a Gesamtkunstwerk between two book covers. Gelitin is widely known for imaginative works and actions marked by anarchic wit and subversive humor. Their choice of themes and materials appears virtually limitless.
Whether leaping from bridges in Venice, planning a space flight to Venus, making a tunnel sing, adding a balcony to one of the towers of New York’s World Trade Center, or developing a new typeface with the Kakabet, Gelitin consistently pushes beyond the familiar and actively draws the audience into their work.
The book is elaborately produced, featuring silkscreen printing, six tipped-in pages, an altar fold, and a DVD integrated into the front cover.
