Gregor Schneider – Double documents the exhibition series of the same name at the MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst, in which ten historical exhibitions from the legendary Bremerhaven Cabinet for Contemporary Art were restaged.

The starting point was Schneider's work ‘N. Schmidt,’ which is a replica of the Kabinett. This space became a platform for presentations by Reiner Ruthenbeck, Lawrence Weiner, Gerhard Richter, Sol LeWitt, Isa Genzken, Abramovic/Ulay, Wolfgang Laib, Andreas Slominski, and Anri Sala, which had already been realised in identical form in Bremerhaven in the past.

In the context of the project, the art-historical presentation of the history of the cabinet was thus combined with Schneider's artistic intentions, so that the series could be received on a wide variety of levels.
