An early selection of Marc Nagtzaam’s text-based drawing samples, this publication reflects a formative phase in the Dutch artist’s practice in which writing,

repetition, and graphic structure converge. Known for his densely worked graphite drawings composed of grids, lines, fragmented words, and rhythmic mark-making, Nagtzaam treats language less as semantic content than as visual material.

The collected samples foreground processes of accumulation, seriality, and pattern formation that continue to shape his work across drawing, print, and artist publishing. Designed by Roger Willems in collaboration with the artist, the book emphasises clarity, typographic precision, and the close relationship between drawing practice and editorial form that characterises Nagtzaam’s broader engagement with artist books and printed matter.
