Invisible Worlds – in situ

Drawing here is not the beginning of form, but the emergence of a field—expanding into space, shifting, disappearing.

Most of the works shown in this volume no longer exist, or survive only in fragments. Created on-site for specific exhibitions and situations, they were produced over the course of one to three weeks and then removed: painted over, pressure-washed away, dismantled, rolled up, or packed. What remains is documentation.

Yet these works are more than traces of what once was. They grow out of drawing as an exploratory gesture, unfolding into large-scale spatial structures. In this process, fields emerge that resonate with social and political themes: migration, urban conditions, the idea of creolization as proposed by Édouard Glissant, questions of equality, physical and symbolic flows, weather, climate.

Drawing becomes a carrier of experiential knowledge—charged with emotion, memory, and intellectual reflection. As these works are embedded into new contexts, their meaning shifts. Their ephemerality is not a limitation, but a deliberate strategy. They point to an artistic approach that values process over permanence, and presence over product.
