For decades, Berlin has been a place shrouded in myth as a haven of sexual freedom, particularly for the LGBTQ+ communities.
An important part of this myth is the clubs, party series, and darkrooms: booths that facilitate (anonymous) sex in public spaces. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, these places are no longer accessible. New types of spaces are emerging, such as testing and vaccination centers. These are often integrated into existing buildings, such as closed clubs and bars. The Covid booths are shrouded in an aura of mystique and promiscuity. They share similarities with darkrooms. Using photos and texts, the book explores this new neighborhood.
