Juergen Teller –Untewegs mit Juergen Teller
Rare BookFor more than a year Juergen Teller wrote a weekly column for ZEITmagazin. Each week he selected one of his photographs and
accompanied it with a personal text. The magazine gave him complete artistic freedom in the process.
Combining image and text was a new experience for Teller. As he noted, the work for ZEITmagazin encouraged him to revisit his own photographs week after week and to write in German again, something he had not done since his school days. The resulting texts reflect the character of his photography: direct, personal and often provocative. From the beginning the column generated strong reactions. Alongside enthusiastic responses the editorial office also received numerous critical letters from readers questioning the unusual combination of photographs and personal commentary. The volume Literatur, the second book in this edition, gathers a selection of these letters and documents the controversial reception of Teller’s column.
