Kunst Kontext Kritik is a discursively oriented publication that approaches the artistic practice of Gerwald Rockenschaub not primarily

through individual works or authorized interpretations, but through their critical reception. The volume brings together texts from art criticism, theory, and institutional contexts, thereby making visible the conditions under which Rockenschaub’s work has been discussed, interpreted, and evaluated in the public sphere.

Rather than foregrounding the artwork as an isolated object, the publication focuses on its embedding within a network of exhibitions, theoretical positions, and modes of mediation. Kunst Kontext Kritik treats criticism not as a secondary commentary but as a constitutive element in the production of artistic meaning. In doing so, the book reflects on questions of authorship, contextual dependency, and the role of institutions in contemporary art.
