In her analysis of Nancy Spero’s ideas of engagement as well as the plastic work from the 1950s to the beginning of the 21st century, Louise Déry honours the artist as representative of the first generation of feminist artists. Mindful of the context of the exhibition on the theme of the spoken image, the author approaches the oeuvre in terms of its transforming effects with regard to the history of contemporary art.
