Masterworks of Industrial Photography, Volume 3
The publication explores labour, industry, and social change through photography.
It brings together three exhibitions presented at the MAST Foundation, each addressing the world of work from a different historical, regional, and artistic perspective.
Jacob Tuggener: Fabrik/Nuits de Bal revisits factories, workers, and industrial life from the 1930s to the 1950s through images of strong cinematic intensity. Ceramica, latte, macchine e logistica examines the transformation of Emilia-Romagna over the past two decades, tracing the impact of globalization, logistics, and the shift toward a service-based economy. Dayanita Singh: Museum of Machines presents a contemporary artistic position in which machines, architecture, and display structures become ways of reflecting on work, especially in relation to India.
As part of the MAST Foundation’s ongoing publishing programme, the book documents a sustained interest in the visual culture of labour and industrial photography. It reflects on the changing conditions of work, the relationship between economic forces and social structures, and photography’s ability to make these transformations visible.
