Mount Moon: The Basel Tour
Mount Moon: the Basel Tour is a publication closely connected to Saâdane Afif’s 2013 performance project presented in the context of LISTE 18 in Basel.
Based on original drawings by Wesley Bryon commissioned by Afif for the project, the book is not simply a record of an event, but part of the work’s larger structure. It carries the project into another medium and gives it a further form through print.
In this sense, the publication can be understood less as a conventional catalogue than as an extension of Afif’s artistic method, in which collaboration, delegation, and the transformation of works across different formats play a central role. Drawing, performance, and book design are brought together here as interdependent elements rather than separate components.
Mount Moon: the Basel Tour therefore reflects a practice in which the book does not merely document a performance, but continues and rearticulates it. The publication makes visible how Afif’s work often moves between concept, commission, image, and display, allowing each stage to become part of the work itself.
