“Mutatis Mutandis” (Secession, Vienna, 2012) was a group exhibition on change, translation, and reordering. It brought together works that recombine and re-edit images, information, and objects, shifting them into new contexts. Moving between archival material, documentary strategies, and filmic, sculptural, and diagrammatic approaches, the exhibition unfolded as a parcours in which meanings, scales, and relations continually shifted. It asked how history and the present interlace, which visible and invisible structures shape perception, and how forms—“with the necessary changes having been made”—transform into new readings. The Secession functioned as a resonant site where a historic building and contemporary artistic practice productively met. Accompanying brochure to the exhibition “Mutatis Mutandis,” curated by Catherine David.
