Nathalie Djurberg and Hans Berg
Swedish artist duo Nathalie Djurberg (born 1978) and Hans Berg (born 1978) create installations with objects, music and moving images – dream worlds in which one could lose oneself.
Their playfully narrated fables contain both humour and darkness and defy the laws of gravity. Djurberg's lively stop-motion films and plasticine figures are accompanied by Berg's electronic music, resulting in surrealistic-looking scenic installations. These chamber plays resurrect suppressed fragments of memory between innocence and shame, or feverish daydreams between role-play and lust. The shadowy landscapes, closed rooms and brightly lit scenes of their films are inhabited by groups of obsessed individuals who seem to devour each other.
The exhibition and accompanying catalogue describe an attempt to make one's own existence more comprehensible in a flow of impulses and impressions.
