New Views: World Financial Center
The attacks of the World Trade Center left the World Financial Center, directly west of ground zero, virtually uninhabitable through the early months of 2002.
Into this context of intense trauma and fervent rebuilding, the nine "New Views" artists began their residencies. When the artists entered their studio spaces, less than 300 feet from the Winter Garden, the complex was nearly empty of its usual activity of businesses and thousands of visitors and inhabitants. For nine months, their task was to make site-specific work for this place in transition. Language: English
