Nikita Kadan. Projects of Ruins:
availability unknown, if interested please write an email
At the core of Nikita Kadan’s practice is a critical engagement with the social and political conditions of the post-communist present and their roots in Soviet
communism. His work investigates how ideologies, power structures, and historical narratives are inscribed in images, spaces, and everyday life.
Kadan’s oeuvre spans multiple media, including drawing, painting, and photography, as well as objects, sculpture, and installation. This plurality of forms functions as an analytical tool rather than illustration, enabling precise examinations of political and social processes.
He is a member of the artist group R.E.P. (Revolutionary Experimental Space) and a co-founder of the artist committee and activist group Hudrada. As an art-political activist, Kadan frequently collaborates with architects, sociologists, and human-rights advocates, understanding artistic practice as a mode of research, intervention, and civic engagement.
