The publication Out of Syria, Inside Facebook by Dona Abboud addresses the representation of war, displacement, and personal experience within digital media environments.
The project takes as its point of departure the observation that social networks—particularly Facebook—have become important platforms for communication and documentation for many people connected to Syria.
The book assembles visual and textual material that reflects on the circulation of news, images, and personal accounts within social media. In doing so, it explores the tension between lived experience and its digital mediation.
The publication considers how social media can function simultaneously as a space of communication, an archive of personal testimony, and a platform for collective narratives.
