Peter Sandbichler: Unpredictable documents the large-scale sculptural installation by Austrian artist

Peter Sandbichler created for Kunstraum Dornbirn. The volume combines detailed photographic documentation, texts, and an extensive interview with the artist to trace the conception, construction, and presentation of two monumental cardboard works — the 26-metre spiral TWIST #03 and the multi-part SKULL #06. Sandbichler’s practice is characterized by a focus on perception, modular structures, and the physical impact of spatial forms. In these works, recycled cardboard — an everyday material — is transformed into monumental sculptural elements that respond to the architectural history of the exhibition space and invite viewers to engage with volume, repetition, and scale. The publication integrates critical text by Thomas D. Trummer and David Schalko with photo sequences by Günter Richard Wett, offering insight into the artist’s method, material processes, and the dialogue between sculpture and site.
