The Pheletypia Photo Edition consists of a pair of two prints on Hahnemühle paper. The two motifs are reproduced in their original dimensions,

corresponding to the size in which they appear in the publication Pheletypia Photo Book. Each pair is produced in an edition of three copies. The works are sold unframed and presented in a portfolio. Every edition includes a copy of the publication.

The two motifs bring together two technological extremes: one of the earliest photographic processes, the daguerreotype, and one of the most advanced contemporary imaging techniques, scanning electron microscopy.

The images derive from microscopic examinations of historical daguerreotypes. Viewed at the nanometer scale and removed from their original scientific context, particles, corrosion, and material transformations become visible as abstract pictorial formations. What once functioned as a medium of representation reappears as a field of material traces.
