Photo Roman (2)
An exploration of the urban environment and its peripheral zones.
The photographs, taken between 1999 and 2004, originate from Cologne, Düsseldorf, Vienna, Kaliningrad, and the Polish cities of Warsaw, Gdańsk, and Łódź. They offer glimpses into a time of transition around the turn of the millennium in Central and Eastern Europe – a period marked by uncertainty, disorientation, and structural change.
For many, this era brought loss and failure; the longing for belonging, tradition, and everyday cultural continuity remained unfulfilled once again.
PHOTO Roman (2) approaches these peripheral life models—past and present—in a lyrical and associative manner. It is not a documentary in the conventional sense, but rather a poetic search for traces along the edges of social visibility.
