Portraits of Young Men: and the video artwork Serious Personal Conviction – On Measuring Conscience by Carl Johan Erikson and Björn Larsson will be presented.

In the book, we encounter the gazes of young men from the turn of the last century. What they all have in common is that they are on the threshold of adulthood. They are all dressed in military uniform and, together with a photographer, have immortalized themselves. They pose as the young recruits they are in a Sweden that, in 1901, introduced universal conscription. In the video artwork, we meet former conscientious objectors and young people today who reflect on the question of taking another person’s life in a potential war situation.
