Post-Menopause brings together a group of works by Rosemarie Trockel that continue her long standing investigation of cultural codes, gender constructions and systems of representation.

Since the 1980s Trockel has developed a body of work that moves fluidly between sculpture, drawing, installation and conceptual strategies. Her works often employ everyday materials and familiar visual motifs in order to question established hierarchies within art and society.

In this publication Trockel addresses the theme suggested by the title as both a biological and cultural condition. The works reflect on the shifting meanings of femininity, age and identity, while also engaging broader questions about authorship, knowledge and the structures that shape social perception. As in much of her practice, irony and critical distance play a central role in destabilizing conventional narratives.

The book assembles images of the works together with texts that situate Trockel’s practice within contemporary debates on gender, language and the politics of representation.
