Roman Signer: Vernissage
Rare BookRoman Signer has been internationally renowned since the 1990s for his artistic actions that playfully engage with water, sand and explosive materials.
Today, Signer is one of Switzerland's most famous artists and his work is exhibited in prestigious museums.
'Roman Signer: Vernissage' is a tribute to the artist on the occasion of his 70th birthday in May 2008. The book brings together invitation cards to around 150 of his exhibition openings in many countries around the world – most of them designed by Signer himself or featuring his photos or sketches. They show the development of his work over the past 35 years, while also reflecting the aesthetic preferences of the time in which they were created, thus forming not only a humorous tour of Roman Signer's oeuvre, but also a history of contemporary art in miniature format. This picture book also includes photographs, drawings and construction plans for numerous experiments and actions.
