In his work, Miklós Erhardt explores artistic avenues for action in relation to sociopolitical and economic issues.

Using interventionist and documentary methods, he creates social situations that serve as a starting point for further observations. His projects often emerge in collaboration with other artists, most notably with Big Hope, an artist collective he co-founded in 1998. In his participatory projects, he addresses the individual perceptions of economic and political reality among specific groups, as well as the lack of representation of underprivileged people such as the homeless, migrants, or residents of ghettoized neighborhoods. The unique situation of Hungary as a post-socialist country that has been undergoing radical upheaval since 1989 is addressed, as are the effects of globalization on the labor market and on various local communities.

The exhibition TEMPORARY SETTINGS at the Secession centers on the video documentation HAVANNA (2006) and the installation FOOTNOTE ON NAKED LIFE – 26 BOXES, CONTAINING (PROBABLY) EVERYTHING I CURRENTLY OWN (2008). The two works address different aspects of mobility, social status, and sociopolitical conditions, as well as state surveillance of public space and private voyeurism.
