TL CS PP DS was published on the occasion of Sophie Thun’s exhibition at the Secession in 2020.

The publication focuses on Thun’s sustained engagement with analogue photographic processes and their spatial, material, and temporal conditions.

Thun works primarily in the darkroom, producing large-scale photographic prints that frequently incorporate the architecture of the studio and exhibition space. Contact sheets, enlargements, and layered exposures form central components of her practice. Rather than concealing the mechanisms of production, her work makes the photographic process visible, foregrounding the apparatus and the physical conditions of image-making.

Recurring strategies include the re-photographing of previous installations and the integration of earlier prints into new compositions. Through these procedures, each image carries traces of prior spatial and temporal configurations. Photography is thus treated not merely as representation but as a performative and material act.

The publication documents this process-based approach and situates Thun’s work within contemporary discourses on analogue photography, authorship, and the relationship between body, space, and image production.
