This lavishly designed artists book presents a new edition of Robert Louis Stevensons Treasure Island, enriched with illustrations by Shiraz Bayjoo that

deepen the novels themes of colonialism and slavery. Offering a fresh approach to the tradition of the illustrated novel, this edition reimagines Stevensons adventure story through the lens of global history.

Bayjoos images take the reader from the ports of England to landscapes marked by plantations and mines, from the violence of the colonial Caribbean of the eighteenth century to the Indian Ocean and other regions shaped by slavery, colonial exploitation and imperial power. The artists visual reflections expand the narrative, setting it within the realities that formed the world in which the story was conceived.

Designed by the award winning book designer John Morgan, the clothbound volume is printed on uncoated paper and features color images throughout.
