This booklet is a reprint of Consciousness-Raising Guidelines, a text from 1975 by the Women's Action Alliance. Consciousness-Raising is a political education strategy.

The booklet is expanded with a new forward by Mariame Kaba and an afterword by Jacqui Shine. In addition, there is a section of Supplemental Guidelines for Black Women prepared by Lori Sharpe, and Supplemental Guidelines for Youth Women (14–19) prepared by Jane Ginsburg and Gail Gordon.
