The starting point for this artist’s book is the experience of a space that is neither empty nor neutral, but has already been shaped by history, social relations, and previous artistic interventions.

Drawing on Henri Lefebvre’s understanding of space as socially produced, Bernhard Cella focuses not on introducing yet another object, but on the present perception of the site.

The resulting images capture traces, transitions, and temporal layers within the landscape. In the book, these impressions are transformed into a linear sequence. The publication thus becomes a space of perception in its own right, in which what is already present can be read anew and the contemporary condition of the site becomes visible.

The artist’s book was published in an edition of 60 copies. It was printed using risography and bound using Japanese stab binding.
