Vanilla. Ein Lokal und seine Zeit traces the history of a Viennese venue where gastronomy, art, music, fashion, and urban culture intersected.

The book approaches the restaurant not merely as a meeting place, but as a social space in which the atmosphere of a specific time is condensed.

At its centre is the question of how a venue can become a cultural point of reference: through its guests, its design, its music, its rituals, and the forms of public life that emerge there. Vanilla appears as a place of encounter and self-staging, but also as a reflection of urban change and cultural scenes in Vienna during the 1980s and early 1990s.

The publication combines documentation, memory, and analysis.
